Is it herpes? Skin tag, irritated, burning vulva with red dots
So I had unprotected sex with a guy who I thought I trusted but I probably shouldn’t have and I won’t be able to get in contact with him. It was 11 days ago and I’ve been feeling uncomfortable for the past 3 days. On the second day I noticed a skin tag on my inner vulva. I kept looking at it and made the area very irritated. So by the afternoon my vulva was slightly burning but not painful, it was more of a feeling of irritation from touching too much. Then I just went to the Dr. they swabbed the area for herpes, just in case. Now, I just looked and I have red dots in the area that was swabbed. I touched the area and it didn’t hurt at all. However, I am terrified that it’s the beginning signs of herpes. Is it normal for the red dots to not hurt at first, then hurt over time? I am freaking out. I am scared. I want to believe that it’s just irritation from the swab, but that’s just hopefully thinking. It doesn’t hurt to pee, but I’m so scared that it will start soon.
The thing is. I was so happy when I left the drs office because I felt so much better. My vagina felt normal again, out of no where. Is this possible with herpes? Can you feel irritated then feel perfectly fine before the bumps start to form? I’m so scared. Someone give their opinion please.
I'd say, let your doctor be your guide, not the Internet. There are OK websites with information (such as https://www.cdc.gov/std/herpes/stdfact-herpes-detailed.htm) but really, no website and no medical chat room can tell you what you have, the doctor's swab can. Good luck, and try not to be frightened. Herpes is no death sentence, though sometimes people act like it is.

Did he test you for other STDs? Yeast? Bacterial vaginosis?
It could be herpes, but it could be irritation from you looking at it, a yeast infection, BV, another STD, etc., etc.
A person can be totally trustworthy and still have an STD that they don't even know they have. Most of the time, STDs don't give symptoms, so unless someone is testing regularly, they may not know they have it.
If you don't know what testing you had done, call the doctor and ask. I'd suggest getting testing for other STDs like chlamydia and gonorrhea, and things like yeast and BV.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, they tested for everything. Humm actually, I’m not sure if they tested for yeast or BV. I asked them to test for all STIs and take a swab of the area to test for herpes.
I can’t figure out if I’m feeling better or not. It’s off and on. When I was at the drs office, I had no discharge. I was actually super dry, probably from looking down there too much. Today I’m very wet, I don’t know if it’s bad discharge or normal. No itching or burning today. I just get a slight ache every few hours, then I feel better after repositioning my body. I feel like I’m waiting in the calm before the storm, I keep waiting for intense pain. I keep expecting it it happen any time now.
Leave everything alone for the rest of today. Don't look at it, don't touch it. Just leave it be and let your skin rest.

Do you see the discharge on your underwear? If you do, what does it look like?

I felt great today until I got home. Of course I made the mistake of looking at it. A few hours after I took a look, I started to burn again. So I looked again and the red dots came back. Or at least they became more noticeable than they were earlier. I’m so sad right now, I thought I felt better and I’m back to slightly burning.
It looks like the drs only tested for STIs not BV nor yeast. All the STIs through a pee test came back negative.
I do have discharge, it started today. It’s white and it surrounds all of the skin above my urethra. It makes it look like I have white bumps but when I peed and looked, it looked like it could be the texture of my vulva. I don’t know, I don’t remember what the texture looked like before. I am getting more convinced it’s herpes. It’s just weird that I would feel normal some times then burning other times. It’s off and on.

I think you need to get checked for yeast and BV.

Yeah, I’m starting to think the same thing. I’m getting a lot of discharge this morning. I’m trying not to touch the area but I find that my panties are collecting a lot of discharge.
Can you go to an urgent care or Planned Parenthood or something and get checked if you can't get into your doctor? Both yeast and BV are fairly miserable, and it could be a really long weekend if you can't get seen by your doctor today.
Yeah, it was a yeast infection. I think that it was a yeast infection of the skin too. I had become very dry and flaky towards to end but as soon as I took the pill that treats yeast infections I started to feel better then my results came back positive for yeast.
