Could i have given my bf herpes???

I periodically get stress related cold sores. I typically get a tingling/feeling of numbness and then a fully developing cold sore shows up within 5 to 10 minutes of noticing that feeling.

I recently had unprotected oral/vaginal sex with my bf. I had noticed some VERY slight tingling earlier on but nothing more than that happened. There was no numbness or no sore development. I could see some teeny tiny little bumps that i see all the time on my lips if i stretch them out look really closely. But the tingling only lasted for a few moments and then went a way. I chalked it up to my being paranoid about getting a cold sore right before meeting my boyfriend.

This tingling happened a few times during that evening but i never had any type of outbreak. it's been two days now and i keep noticing a periodic tingle but nothing else. No outbreak. When i typically get a cold sore, there's really no delay, its just there and super inconvenient. I've definitely never experienced this type of tingle over a period of days like this.

At a couple points in these last two days I noticed the tingle but didn't try to treat it (didn't put any type of antibiotic, apple cider vinegar, etc on it) just to see if something showed up and nothing has. Other times, i did try to treat it: I have some Campo Phenique that i use on my lips for a cold sore and usually there is an immediate burn. I put it on a few times in the last two days and it definitely was NOT that immediate burn. It did burn a little bit all over, not just in the spot thats been tingling, but i really think thats because my lips have been pretty dry and cracked a little bit.

I don't know if I'm just being paranoid or if could i really have possibly exposed him to herpes? I'm starting to overthink and panic. Not sure if i'm noticing "symptoms" because i'm worried or if there is something really there. I'm usually so good at being able to tell :(  Can i have a cold sore that just never actually fully develops? And could i have passed it on????? Please help.

Just realize you can pass the virus even when no symptoms are present. Odds are low but still very possible.

The odds are small that you gave him hsv. That being said you don't need a cold sore to pass the virus. Oral hsv1 sheds at a rate of 10-15% of days on average. Some people shed more often while others less. Depends as everyone is differant. Does he ever get cold sores? If he does then it would be very rare to get a genital hsv2 infection after an established oral infection

Thank you for your feedback. No, he doesn't get cold sores. I'm just really hoping i'm overreacting and just need to  pay more attention in the future :\

Even now, I felt the tingling for a few seconds but it went away and i have no sort of outbreak or numbness or throbbing...frankly i'm not even sure the tingling IS a cold sore. idk whats going on
