Is it normal to have an outbreak and then another one elsewhere a week later?

My dentist saw blisters on the roof of my mouth and told me he thinks it is HSV. That was about 8 days ago. Last night I got this giant painful blister inside my lip that erupted overnight and the doctor did a biopsy on it today but she also thinks it is HSV.

Can anyone explain it?

The biopsy was negative.

Are you sure it was a biopsy that was performed and not a swab test? Seems a bit over the top for the doctor to go as far as a biopsy, when a pcr swab from a fresh blister would be most accurate. HSV1 is incredibly common. Blisters definitely sound herpetic but this would be best diagnosed by a pcr swab if they return.
And yes, it’s not unheard of for outbreaks to happen back to back.
