Labcorp Results

Hi,
I am not sure if this has been discussed already, but after reading so many posts my eyes are blurry and I dont feel I have any answers.
My wife went to get her yearly check up and her midwife ran a labcorp STD test on her. Everything on the result sheet was fine except the test:

HSV i/ii IgG Rflx i-ii Type Sp
    HSV I/II IgG              32.9 High

and then it lists the index. It does not say anything about which type she may have and she is accusing me of sleeping around. Which I know I have not done. Can anyone clarify for me? I have read a women with a similar report but she states it had another column after that. Could it be that my wife's midwife only ordered a preliminary test or something of that nature? Either way I am going to get tested in the morning and would like to put this all behind us.

Thank you

I agree that she will probably come back with HSV1, but I am pretty sure that with both children her OB had run the herpes test in order to know for the birth.

That is why I was asking. I am fairly certain that both of those tests came back negative, and was concerned that if her HSV2 came back positive that there could be something to it. Although, I dont have it and show no signs of it either. I am concerned that the few times we have had sex, were during non breakout times and that I was just lucky. I guess, I am wondering if she comes back positive today, that she will not be able to pawn it off as she has had it all along with no symptoms and no positive blood work, but that I haven't contracted it from her.

Sorry my mind is all over the place.

so far the only test results you've listed for your wife were the combined tests which tell you nothing. You have hsv1, odds are she probably does too which will make the combined test +.

don't put the  proverbial cart before the horse as they say, wait for her results to come back.

herpes testing is not a state wide recommendation anywhere. it's up to the provider to chose whether to test for herpes or not.

Thank you. The reason I ask, is because we have 2 children one of which is a new born and I know they do the herpes test in our state during pregnancy. So if her test comes back today as positive, I have to wonder if she has stepped out on me. If that makes any sense?

the vast majority of folks who have hsv2, test + for it for a lifetime on the blood tests.

First I would like to thank you for being here and helping all of us.
Secondly, is it possible for a person to have HSV2 and not show signs and have negative bloodtests for years, then all of a sudden have it?

you are hsv1+ like most adults are. odds are it's oral even if you can't recall any cold sores previously.  http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading.

your hsv2 is negative.

if you need help with her results, feel free to post those too :)  Keep asking questions and I"m glad you found a place to ask your questions and get accurate answers so that this didn't continue to be a stress on your marriage.

Grace,

Well, I went and got my results yesterday and they were
HSV1 - 2.84 H
Hsv2 - .9

Everything else was inconclusive. I am waiting for her to go get the real test done. It seems she isn't so eager now for some reason.

Thank you. We are both going for the specific test today. After spending a few hours on this site last night I came to a similar conclusion. Thank you for your help Grace.

it was a non-type specific test which was a total waste of time and money.

typically lab corp then does a hsv2 igg specifically. perhaps your wife didn't receive that page of the lab results?
