New Yorker trying to get tested with the western blot in New Jersey. Help please!

Hi everyone.

As the title states, I'm a New Yorker trying to get tested with the western blot and having some difficulty. New York State since 2013 has made is illegal to send out blood tests out of state which makes is impossible to get tested in the city. I would have been happy to be tested by the biokit but Montefiore as of now has removed the testing machine from their STD center so I am left with no choice but to go out of state. Quest and Lab Corp as of a few years ago no longer carry the hsv western blot either.

So to those who have been in my shoes or are in the know, how have you been able to get tested in New Jersey (Preferably around the PATH line)? Which doctors did you go to? Which labs did you go to? Anything I should know about? The man I talked to on the UoW seemed to have no clue. I know some people have called Terri Warrens clinic to schedule the test but because of how expensive the western blot + overnight shipping is ($300+), if I can save at minimum $50+ I'm going to try.

Thank you!

I don't know if this is too late but u need a doc prescription to order the test.  So what I did was become a phone patient with west over heights clinic ( Terri warren) and they ordered the kit and sent it to the quest lab of your choice... For me the closest one is at jersey city ( right off the Lincoln tunnel).  I am going to get the WB tomorrow ( Monday).  I pray for some good news :).

Do another elisa also very accurate. I you had a herpes test 3 months post exposure and your number was a 1.48 its most likely a false positive.

I already have done tests. My ELISA IGG tests are 1.48 and I am unable to be restested by the biokit because it was removed by Montefiorie. I called up Biokit usa and was told that the only other locations offered in the North East are in Massachusetts and Maine. This is why I need to get the western blot done.

Start off by having a simple igG test as are 90% accurate or the biokit for hsv2 only.
