Partners Negative/Me Positive ??

Ok....boyfriend of 4 years tested negative....current boyfriend negative....me POSITIVE for HSV2 !!!

Please explain whats going on??

I took the Western Blot Tuesday, which will be my 3rd test. First two positive....no symptoms ever !!

If I took this into the 4 year relationship, wouldn't I have passed it?
Current boyfriend couldn't have given it to me because he is negative. I don't understand!!

So what if you've got a new partner and you broke out right after y'all had sex..bf of 3 years tested neg...new partner hasn't gotten tested yet..looks like that's where it came from. What do y'all think? Previous partners before bf of 3 years never had an outbreak or anything of the sorts then a few days after the first time with new partner..I broke out.

So sorry :( I did get mine back today also......I am pos for HSV1 and neg for HSV2

What is the sad part is that so many people out there are getting diagnosed with this that really aren't.

I had two positives......HSV 2 at 4.5 with negative HSV 1 and the Western Blot came out the total opposite.

I was very nervous today also so I know exactly where you were at....I'm so so sorry it didn't work out for you...please keep the faith and take care of yourself.

What a blessing!!

When do you get your results? My nurse called that lab in Washington and asked the status they said Monday or Tuesday. I'm trying so hard to just accept the fact it's positive so it's just great news if it's negative. It's hard tho thinkin you still have a chance :(

I don't know that I'll be coming here too often after that....maybe I will to give inspiration like you and others have done for me. Sometimes it just helps knowing you aren't the only one.

Do you know when you're expecting your results?

there is no strong or weak virus.. luckily for you, you dont seem to have outbreaks. Maybe you just have a great immune system!   How is everything going? I think after I get my WB results, i wont be posting on these boards. I hope you can move on with your life. Best wishes.

Good Morning,

It took not quite 3 weeks for my WB to come back.  Which was not a fun wait!  I kept praying that it wouldn't be positive, but it was.  I don't think that I have a very strong strain of the virus, if that's possible, but the virus is there.

No way to be able to contact ex-husband...4 year restraining order...not on speaking terms. Seeing as there has only been him, my 4 year relationship and my current I imagine it's probably from him. No real reason to worry about it now. My concern were the last two in my life.

WB takes 2 weeks....I had it done at a Quest Labs where it had to be sent to their main lab so we're looking at 2-3 weeks for my results.

After looking at that poll that they did on this site it almost looks promising to be negative. I'm trying to not have hope so I don't get let down.

Well when u say "dormant" when u talk about herpes that means the virus is not active and is tucked away in the nerve cells located in our spine base region.. The virus can be active without noticeable symptoms and this is called asymptomatic shedding.. Its when the virus creeps up to the surface of the skin and can be transmitted to a partner.. An outbreak is when the virus multiples on the skin.. Symptoms can be mild or severe.. The majority of infected people don't know they are infected.. If I were u I'd get in touch w my ex husband if its really important to you to get to the bottom if this! As far as where u got it.. I can't wait to hear about ut WB results!! And mine too!! How long is the WB supposed to take?

I had two EIA blood lab tests done. Those came back positive. I have never had any symptoms. Just did a random test going from one relationship to another.

I was with that boyfriend for 4 years...he went and got tested (blood test) and came back negative.

My current boyfriend, I told, he went and got tested (blood test) and it came back negative.

So....if I'm positive...I didn't give it to, or get it from, boyfriend of 4 years.

New boyfriend didn't give it to me because he is negative.

Go Figure???

I asked my doctor if you can be a carrier and not a transferer. She said no.

Again, no symptoms, ever!!!

If it lays dormant can you still pass it??? I need answers. Don't people look into this stuff??? My doctor is thinking I may have to go to an immunologist.

How were u tested? How do u know u have it?

Yes, the virus can lay dormant for years. If I didnt test negative a few months prior to me testing positive, and my last partner before my negative test was 6 months prior to negative test, then i wouldnt questions anything. Its just the negative test doesnt make sense.

and yeah you would think that ur husband of 18 years would have gotten it, but it doesnt work that way all the time.

Evidently this virus can lay dormant for years and years.  3 years ago I had my first outbreak and of course tested positive.  My husband, who I have been married to for 18 years at the time, tested negative.  Tested again and he's still negative.  I have not been with anyone else since we got married.  So obviously, I had this virus for a long time and never had any symptoms that I recognized as being herpes. And my husband never  caught if from me after 18 years of unprotected sex.  Go figure.

Yeah Im curious too about the western blot ..but i know that its practically a 90% chance of being positive going in.. so I wont be too disappointed if its positive, but I just figured I gotta take the test especially bc i dont have clear symptoms and my ex tested negative... and i tested negative six months after sleeping with my ex ex bf.

My family doctor has known me since High School and im now 26, So I feel very comfortable talking to him. But I can tell he doesnt know too too much about HSV 2.  He kinda laughed at me when I asked him for a script for the western blot but made it clear that he would do anything to help me. He also made me promise that I would just forget about this stupid virus after the WB test results come back...and I agreed, and then we kinda laughed together. I do need to put this behind me. It hasnt had an impact on my life physically..only emotionally. This doctor continued to tell me that I can only pass the virus when I have an outbreak (we know thats not true).

My gyno who initally tested me SUCKED!.. she was very insensative about the whole thing...I went to a different gyno, who was awesome and she was like "I seriously have this conversation with 2 new people a week...its incredibily common". She was also aware the the false positive issues with the tests but didnt suggest me retesting because my levels were so high. She said I should be lucky thats is nothing more serious (HIV) . She made me feel better. All in all.. she was basically like "get over it".. and in a way she is right.

Best of luck too and please keep me posted!

Wow...glad I'm not the only one. I'm so confused. I would think that after my marriage that within that 4 year relationship I would have passed it on to my partner if I brought it from the marriage. I just don't get what is going on. It will be very interesting to see what the Western Blot comes out to be. If I'm still positive I have no idea where to go with this. Doc is confused too.

Happy Easter to you and good luck to you also!!!

Keep me posted too.

What does your doctor have to say?

hey happy easter.. ive been folloing ur posts.. and i am in the same boat as you.. no symptoms...tested highly positive twice after i tested negative a few months prior, my last partner prior to my negative test was at least 6 months before,,  my timeline doesnt make sense... my partner who i thought infected me is negative per IGG after 4 months post exposure... I dont get it either. I took the western blot test last week, Really all we can do it wait until our results come back and draw conclusions based on that.

It sounds like if u really do have it then u probably were exposed years ago maybe during or prior to your marriage.. But i think there is a fair chance you dont have it. So lets just hope for the best. Im thinking if i rreally do have it i got it from my partner who i initially thought infected me and he was just late in seroconverting.  good luck and keep me posted.
