Possible Herpes symptoms

Hello i am new here but i was hoping i could get some answers.

4 weeks ago i had protected sex with a female partner, i am a male. During which time i fingered her and we kissed as well. After three days i had a strange red sore (what seemed to be a small zit) and a slightly less severe one come up on the base of one fingers i used to finger her with (middle finger inbetween knuckle and first joint). it was very small (less than 1 cm) and painless it isn't raised from the skin and it did not spread anywhere else. I have had no other symptoms show up anywhere on my body, or any illness symptoms. No swelling and, no lymph-nodes increasing in size.

I asked my partner about it and she said that her other partners showed no signs or symptoms of anything like that, and that they had also had done the same thing is have. We had had sex 5 months previous to this event and i had gotten tested and everything came back fine. I also had another partner who hadnt had sex with anyone except me and is showing no symptoms.  It is now 3 and a half weeks since this showed up and it hasnt really gotten better or worse. Its just a small red circle on my finger that won't go away.

Could this possibly be Herpetic Whitlow? If not is there anything else it could be? I set up an appointment with my dermatologist so see what it might be but i still have to wait two weeks. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some answers.

Thanks

Thank you for the speedy reply. I should have mentioned when i did get tested t was for everything except HSV. That makes me feel better, i was just concerned because i have read that sometimes herpes can be so mild it goes unnoticed as another skin condition.

Hi, this would not appear as whitlow. Whitlow is very painful and would go away in a week or so. It would open as a blister and spread the virus to the immediate surronding area. So bottom line is that a small red circle on your finger would not fit the symptoms of Whitlow.
Also its not common and with no breaks in your skin, whitlow could no enter as the skin is too thick.
When we speak of whitlow, it more a risk in the dental profession with hsv1.
