Pretty sure I have herpes!!

I've been having (unprotected) sex with a guy for almost a year and he said he was clean because he has regular check ups and I trust is he. I have always shaved down below but the day before we had sex the last time, I shaved near the anus area which was the first time I'd done that. 2 days after I had bumps around my anus and they developed into blisters but I was thinking it was from shaving that area and my cheeks rubbing together. It wasn't painful just annoying feeling. I went to my dr 2 weeks after sex and he gave me a blood test. A week later he told me I tested positive for herpes. I being in total shock didn't know what to ask or anything. He didn't explain anything or offer medicine or any kind of follow up check up. All I had was a piece of paper to figure out myself.
So both HSV 1 & 2 IgG tested >.91
But my IgM just said Positive Abnormal for HSV 2.
I just need some clarity but I've mentally accepted that I might have it.

You are very welcome. Remember no more igm testing. I don't care how they want to spin it.

I wish more Dr's were up to date on hsv testing. This lack of knowledge causes people a ton of needless stress.
Your case is common. No std or hsv expert recommends igm testing for hsv in adults. The test is very unreliable and has a huge potential for false positives. Even the ultra conservative CDC does not recommend the igm test.
Ok. Here is what you do. Completely disregard the igm test. It should never be given for the reasons above. Your bumps in the area you just shaved do not sound like hsv at all.
I would bet the farm you DO NOT have hsv2. Please try and put the igm results out of your mind. Like I said, needless worry.
I hope this helps.
