I would go with circumstances.
You had sex with a virgin, so that means the chances of HSV2 infection are zero unless she is an exceptionally rare person of having being born with HSV2 from her mother (extra, extra rare in the UK).
I do think though that the existence of a positive swab, although does potentially seem more like a mix up than anything else, requires some verification.
Hence overall I do feel testing should be sought, despite the expense.
Thank you very much :) may i ask you this though, do you think it is necessary that i get the blood test or should i just stop thinking about it and move on as i have had two negative pcrs and one positive which things clearly went wrong?
I'm not sure what you are searching. The UK has the lowest incidence of HSV2 that I believe lies in the range of 6-10% of the population.
However you had sex with a young virgin where the incidence is 0%.
I know your situation is confusing. But you are now well and truly beyond the time frame for developing antibodies. You can get the correct IgG testing privately and that will cost you, but I think it will give you peace of mind.
