Red spot from cold sore for FOUR MONTHS.

Hello everyone!  My girlfriend had a really bad cold sore in August 2014.  It healed up by the beginning of september, but she's had a red spot where it was since then.  It hasn't gone away.  This doesn't seem normal.  The question is.  Is it still contagious?  According to the stages of a cold sore, it is.  But this doesn't seem like a normal stage of the process.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi, a normal lip cold sore should heal up in about 2 weeks from scabing over to gone, however, depending on the person skin type it may leave a spot/scar. Maybe she even ate some food or a drink that is acid based that prevents complete healing. But at this point if there is no open broken skin it would not be contagious after a month.
She might take a herpes blood test just to confirm she does in fact have oral herpes.
