Shingles or type 2?

Hello,

I was diagnosed with hsv2 in January after my yearly well woman exam. I have had no signs or symptoms until after receiving the results from my doctor, I had a lymph node swollen in the bikini line area. Last June I had a rash that Im learning was very similar to shingles. I went to my family doc in July who did a culture and the lab came back saying it was "Perivascular dermatitis" she put me on a steriod and it didnt work, put me on another and it didnt work, told me to go to a dermotologist. The dermotologist looked at it and immediate told me it was guttate psoriasis put me on minocycline and cream, the rash went away in a matter of day though I still have some scaring on my legs. When the rash originally appeared it was below my knees and then spread within a day all over my body, the only parts the werent effected were the palm of my hands, face, neck, scalp, and bottoms of my feet. They would start as like a lil blister and pop and scab over, it was very very itchy. I have contact my family doc to see what more she can tell me about the lab testing on the culture. But Im trying to find out if shingles antibodies will show on an igg blood test as type 2? My igm was neg three times and my igg was positive three times... Any advice is welcomed and thank you in advance for your time!!

I will gladly take a look at your blood test results for you if you want to post the last one here. all I need to see are the actual numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 5.6 and hsv2 igg 3.3 or whatever they are.

so you had a lesion that was cultured as hsv2?

herpes zoster is completely different from herpes simplex. Your hsv 2 igg will not be + because of shingles/chicken pox.
