Should I be concerned about herpes?

A few days ago my throat started to hurt just when I swallowed, then I had a very stressful event happen and such. Now It hurts constantly and even worse when I swallow. And I have red bumps at the back of my throat, none on my lips or tongue or roof of month though. Just back of throat. I don’t have a runny nose or cold symptoms as far as I’m aware. My girlfriend has no symptoms. I’m stressed because I googled throat herpes and those are the symptoms. I’m not sure if I’m just overthinking this and have a common cold/sore throat, or if I have something more like herpes.

I don't know what your stressful event was - was it something sexually?

I'm not sure why you are thinking this is herpes, because strep is way more common in causing red spots on your throat than herpes.

I think you should see your doctor and get a throat culture done, and see what the doctor thinks about it being herpes. My guess is strep or a common upper respiratory virus.
