Many thanks for answering that! I will get the blood test as I'm driving myself crazy. I developed 2 small pimple-like red bumps on my index finger so I'm now paranoid about Herpetic Whitlow...
FYI, we were casually dating but its over now so you can imagine why I'm panicking.
Many thanks that has helped me feel a bit relieved.
I have had tingling in my genital area and a rash for about 5 days now 2 weeks after having sex with him so I'm quite worried. Also I've heard that some people never get symptoms and have no idea they have it so I feel like I still could have contracted it as through intercourse even though we used a condom his skin was rubbing against mine for quite a while :(
There was one occasion where he touched himself then touched me would the risk still be low? Is transmission through the hand to genitals possible?
Hi, symptoms of first time infection (when they do occur) have been described as a blister or razer type sore at the point of contact then body aches and fever as the body is mounting a defense building antibodies.
Recurrent often are with a tingling sensation and itching prior to an outbreak.
If the person was on antivirals, and no sore at the time and using a condom, the risk would be extremely low you contracted herpes. Couples can go for years having unprotected intercourse with one partner not being infected.
Also, with skin to skin contact with genital herpes, if the man I was with used a condom and was on suppressive medication as well, what are the chances I would catch HSV2 through skin to skin contact? Is there a 100% chance I'm now infected if we had sex 5 times within 3 weeks?
If this is someone you are in a relationship with, you need to relax. If you develop symptoms, go to the doctor. If the relationship ends, get yourself tested before becoming intimate with your next partner.
If this is someone you have just had casual sex with, then you should probably not have sex with him again. Not because of the risk of contracting H, but because you seem to be over thinking this a lot, and if you analyze every single non-latex touch, you're going to drive yourself crazy and the romance will die off pretty quickly ;)
If you don't plan to have more sex with this person, just wait until 16 weeks after your last encounter and go get a blood test to determine if you have the virus. If you develop symptoms sooner, go to the doctor ASAP, because they can swab the sores to get a diagnosis.
