Test results no outbreak but HSV1 positive do I tell!

I got a herpes test done this week. I have never had an outbreak of any kind but decided to get a test done anyway. It showed:

HSV 1 positive antibody index greater than 1.1

HSV 2 negative antibody index less than 0.9

HSV 1&2 equivocal level 0.97 repeat testing recommended.

I have never had a cold sore or any other outbreak that I am aware of.

Asked my Dr. if I am contagious and obligated to tell current or future partners he said no I am not contagious unless I have an outbreak, said I don't need to tell anyone. Can someone explain I want to be sure. I usually don't worry about things like sharing cups or kissing girls I date. Is this ok?

yes its possible no outbreaks but even though youd still be a risk to pass it to someone else as it sheds, meaning the virus is on the skin surface with no sores at the time.

Ok, I called my dr and the assistant didn't have the numbers. I plan to get re-tested and ask my dr about getting a hold of the numbers.

I'm still wondering if I do end up testing positive for HSV 1 above 3.5 with no outbreaks is this even possible or contagious? I'm confused

Hi, you need to find out the numbers that came up for hsv1 to avoid any false positive issues as any number below 3.5 would need retesting to confirm.
