Tested negative, Paranoia or real thing?

I am a 40 yo male living in Australia. About a year ago I had an encounter with a female of unknown status - recently asked her about herpes which she denied having. She didn't appear to have any oral or genital sores.

The encounter consisted of her using a sex toy on me (anally). The toy was covered with a condom. She used lube but also spat on my anal region to lubricate.

Some days later I noticed a hard pimple or boil just inside my bottom cleft. I also had some cold like symptoms. Everyone at my home was sick at the time with similar symptoms so I put the cold or flu down to that. The pimple or boil felt like it was really under the skin, it was red but not like a blister. It was not painful or itchy and kind of felt like a deep pimple I sometimes get on my shoulder. It seemed to be there for months before it disappeared. I can't be sure it wasn't there before the encounter but I suspect it wasn't.

I forgot about the whole thing and life went on. Recently, the pimple has come back. It seems to inflate then deflate, then come up again, it is on my left side in the bottom cleft. Shortly before it reappeared, I got about 6 pimples on my right buttock. They were not clustered but spread out. They did not look like blisters and nothing coming out. No pain or itchiness.

I freaked out and went to an after hours clinic, doctor looked and told me the pimples were not herpes. 2 days later, I went to my primary doctor - who is very experienced, he examined me and said ingrown hairs but to be sure had me do a full std screen. Relevantly, The test for Herpes was IGG type specific - in Australia. Came back negative for both HSV1 and HSV2. This was a year after the questionable encounter.

Since the testing I have really noticed the pimple in the cleft of my bottom. I am not sure if it is psychosomatic, but I seem to be so focused on my gentials checking my bottom and cleft 5 or more times a day. I  sure the pulling and prodding adds to this but Sometimes I feel a twinge or an itch or a bruise which is fleeting nothing painful or specific. I don't know if it is imagined. I am hairy and overweight so I get a fair bit of chaffing, rubbing and sweating downstairs

I am so grateful to those who contribute to this site.

Can I rely on my test or does it sound like it could have missed something?

Using the sex toy and spitting like you describe is not a risk for contracting herpes so thats why your test came back negative.

Thanks for the reply. I keep doubting the results. The paranoia is driving me mad. I spent a lot of time reading other posts and recognise the paranoia. I am usually quite robust but this anxiety is sapping my energy.
