Tested negative for HSV-2, low positive 20 days after.

Hello,

18-March-18: I had unprotected sex with a prostitute.
31-March-18: I was tested negative for HSV-2, IGG-ElLISA (0.33) & positive for HSV-I  (0.5).
Last week 12- May-18 I had another test for HSV-2 only and the result was low positive, 1.25 with reference of 0.9.

Could someone explain the results, what should I do now?
Western bolt is not provided in My country. I am in the middle east.

thanks

You’re a just be one score is not positive. If I’m reading it correctly, it says .5. That is not a positive score. I am assuming the test you took was an IgG test? Please confirm what kind of test it was Sica better assist you. You’re a just be too score is in the low positive range and is possibly a true positive at only about three weeks out. But there’s nothing conclusive about it. I suggest you wait about 12 weeks from the Encounter and test again, via an IgG test. See what your score is at that time. Have you had any symptoms or anything troublesome since the exposure? Any lesions any soreness any burning? Really the telltale sign of a new herpes infection, if you’re going to have an outbreak, is open sores or lesions. These can sometimes present as cuts or small openings at the point of contact. For you, that would be on the penis shaft. Let me know what testing you had done  encounter and test again, via an IgG test. See what your score is at that time. While other symptoms can happen, any burning or tingling without sores, doesn’t mean this is herpes related. These can sometimes present as cuts or small openings at the point of contact. all tests were igg, elisa. I was diagnosed with gonorrhea and got the treatment for it. Now two month since the exposure and had no out breaks of HSV-2. I had some itches and discomfort in penis which I discovered it was caused by my tight underwear and its material. I changed my diet and lowered my protien intake and now feeling great.

let me write this again

12 days after exposure
hsv-2 igg result : 0.33 od ratio
hsv-1 igg result : 5.37 od ratio

2 months after exposure
Hsv-2 igg result 1.25

please tell me if you need more explanation.
Ahhh. Okay. HSV1 is a firm positive and is something you’ve had for a while.
The HSV2 score is a low positive and need an confirmatory test. Test again after 3 months from the exposure have passed. See what your score is then. If it’s a true positive, it will be closer to 3.5 or higher.
Your answer made me worried! You're saying that any increment in the HSV-2 ratio is an indication of infection?
No. Right now your IgG score is a low positive. It is in the false positive range and index values that fall between 1.1 and 3.5 have a chance of being a false positive. This is why I suggest testing once 12 weeks from the encounter has passed. If your score is still in the equivocal range, you should have confirmation testing. I know you said Western blot is not available where you’re at. At this time, I wouldn’t even worry about that. Test after 12 weeks. See what your index value is at that time.
Thank you for your answer. Just to let you know, the two tests were not had in the same lab.
Dear TooHip1973 ,

I went to the lab on the 19-May-18 and to day I received the below results

19-May-18
HSV-1, IGG, ELISA 7.5
HSV-2, IGG, ELISA 0.1

0.9 is the reference

Should I consider these results conclusive and promising if my last exposure was on the 18-March-18? or I should consider retesting?

Thank you,
Testing is up to you. You’ve had no symptoms that point to HSV2. If you want, test when 12 weeks have passed and take those results, if negative, as conclusive.
