The War

I have some concerns,

I have been taking acyclovir for over 3 weeks now,
The blisters have been reoccurring on and off.
So it seems as if the medication is working, and then again not.
I have been to the doctors office numerous of times before of the same reason.
My curiosity is that if I need to up the dosages.
Now I am taking about 800mg every 4 hours.
I was thinking if I may boost it up to 1200 every 4 hours for 5 days would there possibly be a stronger reaction.
Please let me know if this is a right thing to do and also some feedback if you have ever heard of anything like this before with cold sores.

how can you escape these brands
I have looked and looked and it is impossible to find a old fashioned brand of toothpaste.

Also, Im thinking that its something that im eating
and Im afraid that it may be wheat products that are causing these sores and blisters.
I remember eating some homemade Mac and cheese that i made (its my favorite)
and the next day
I felt an reaction the next afternoon.
Im like "Man...not again..."

and Prednisone...
it works wonders..but it feels like it is 50/50 helping and not helping.
I only use it when it gets to the extreme.

like when I had bit my tongue
there were then blisters and more sores
and my tongue was swollen.
and then I kept biting my tongue while I was sleeping
so it was like putting gasoline on a fire.

So I HAD to take prednisone
because I was doing more damage to myself (biting my tongue)
while I was letting it heal naturally.

that...is my definition of Hell ladys and gentlement :) jaja

and yes Le Mat, I am :)
if you only knew.... :)

Well you are special alrighty Le Mat....he he he ( sorry couldn't resist )

Apthous ulcers are inside the mouth and not on the outer lips.

yes indeed toothpastes are a big allergen.  Always avoid the ones that are whitening, tartar control, complete , total etc.  If you are sensitive to chemicals then you want plain ole regular toothpaste - no bangs or whistles.

Cold sores would not be so painful and take so long to heal that they'd require steroids.  Definitely sounds like something else is going on but at this point obviously figuring that out isn't going to work.

It would actually work.

Than it would come back

but the interesting thing is that there is more improvement when I take it
in comparision of when I dont.
it looks like herpes

this is the reason why I have been back and fourth to the doctors.
One doctor tells me that its a rare skin disease
and the other tells me that its cold sores

I just think Im special in a very weird way. lol

That's clearly not herpes - herpes would go crazy on prednisone.

if I stop,
what are something that you reccommend that I do to help heal these sores
and blisters?

Its strange...
I think I maybe allergic to bread or dust or something..

before..well..when it would get to servere, I would have to use prednisone because of the pain.

I'd stop the acyclovir at this point because I really don't think this is just oral herpes reactivating. Perhaps it's something you are coming in contact in argentina?

I was not sexually active until I was 17.
Before then, i had these sores.

Is it possible to have HSV2 in the mouth
wihtout performing oral sex?
like if I were to kiss someone who had caught HSV2 orally
wouldnt I have HSV2 orally too?

This is what Im trying to figure out, in reference to my allergies.

thats the thing...it heals and then it appears again and so on and so forth.
*so do you think I should up the dosage just to see if it will work. *
If it is a possible bacterial infection, what would you recommend?

I am planning to go to the dermatologist to see whats going on.
when I get back to the States. (currently in Argentina)
I get back in October.

I thank you so much for your assistance.
It means alot!
hope to hear from you soon.

It's time for a dermatologist regardless. Anything that is a well established oral infection that is taking more than 3 weeks to heal up even with antivirals probably isn't just a plain ole herpes recurrence. Either it's a different virus that just needs to run its course or it's a bacterial infection or even perhaps an allergic reaction to something.

So you had a swab test of a cold sore that said hsv2? Were you sexually active at age 13?

This is oral herpes

I have been through so many types of testing through my life...
Ive had biopsies, the "swab", and blood tests.

I was not diagnosed with HSV I
it was HSV 2 from what I saw
but I have it in the mouth.

Ive had this since I was like 13 years old.
