Throat related issues

Can oral herpes cause excessive coughing and throat irritations that won't go away? Would the symptoms for elderly people who have herpes be more severe than someone younger? If someone with genital herpes contaminates objects(tv remote, keyboards, phones, etc) that are used with other people (which arent sexual items), what are the chances of the virus transmitting? And if so would they have hsv 1 or 2?

No, the folks you live with are not having coughing symptoms from herpes.

No, you aren't going to transmit the virus by forgetting to wash your hands and then touching things.

oral herpes is transmitted thru kissing. www.ashastd.org has more info on oral herpes under the herpes section for more info.

herpes is not typically a respiratory virus. You aren't going to cough and contaminate objects like you do say cold and flu viruses.

if you have a cough and throat irritation, odds are it has nothing to do with herpes.
