Urinary infection and herpes

I'm pretty sure i have herpes but haven't been tested. My dr. said I had a UTI and prescribed me antibiotics. Im pretty sure it is caused by HSV, so i started taking Valtrex.
Can I take both, antibiotics and antiviral for a UTI.
I never did the urine test to determine the exact cause.
Thanks

I think you should seek medical advice, your understanding is not correct.

Each bacteria is unique and can cause a variety of symptoms. One thing that is 'special' about gon and chlamydia is that they cause serious internal issues but are mostly asymptomatic. This is why they test for them.

Other bacteria cause a range of symptoms and hence doctors go for a broad perspective antibiotic and no real need to test unless symptoms persist.

Herpes is not cured by antivirals, replication is simply limited.

Please do not self medicate based on your guess work, you respect your body more than that?

Actually there are two kinds on UTI.
One, the common one, caused by common bacteria like E.Coli.
Second kind is provoked by stds such as gonorhea, syphilis and HSV.
This viral kind of herpes is cured by antivirals and not antibiotics.

Because i don't know the cause, i out myself in a cipro and valtrex treatment,
basically my question was about possible renal failure due to the combination.

Thanks for your response

Herpes does not really cause symptoms to confuse with a UTI.

Stop the valtrex now.

Why would you think herpes is a possibility?
