Hi,
I am 21 years old and am very curious and frustrated as to what is causing this burning/stinging sensation at my vaginal opening. This usually is accompanied by a very thick white to yellowish discharge and sometimes a light burning sensation during urination. I've started taking Lactobacillus tablets, yogurt and also started taking a warm bath every night to ease this discomfort I have (assuming that this is a very bad yeast/bacterial infection). So far the severity has decreased only slightly, but not enough to ensure that the problem has gone away. Every time I think the discomfort is decreasing, as soon as I wipe myself down there, the pain returns. These symptoms have occasionally reoccurred throughout my life for as long as I can remember, however they normally wouldn't last longer than a few days and then would disappear.
I have never thoroughly examined myself, so I tried with a mirror, and I've noticed that there seems to be a whitish looking blister on the opening to my vagina (and close to the urethra), there seems to be a small bump lower down the opening as well, both no larger than a few millimeters. I also noticed that there seems to be some very sensitive lumps very close to the urethra (which have been sensitive to the touch for as long as I can remember).
I have never had sex before, am not sexually active nor have I had an sexual partners through which I could have gotten an STD from. I have masturbated before. I am terrified that this may be herpes and I don't understand how I could have gotten an STD like this without a sexual partner. I guess a part of my question is also, what is the probability of auto-inoculation for genital herpes? I'm pretty sure that if I do have herpes, I must have had it for my whole life (same recurring symptoms). As far as I know, my mother has not been diagnosed with genital herpes.
I am going to the doctors next Tues, but I am still wracked with anxiety. Are there any other infections that would cause blisters by the vagina (granted I'm not even sure that these are really blisters yet..)? Normally this infection in particular wouldn't bother me as much, since they've gone away before within days, but this one has lasted for over 2 weeks and is getting very irritating and worrisome.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
