Waiting is the hardest part ;(((

Hi Everyone. I must admit like most of u I read these blogs everyday now as my life recently has been consumed by this disease. I posted this once before but I'll just say it again so I can bring you all up to speed.

I had two encounters this past month (the latest was 12 days ago) with a girl that I met. Both time she performed oral sex on me with a lot of kissing and licking around my anal and scrotum region. I don't think that I ever came into contact with her genitals.

Since I wanted to engage in sexual intercourse I had asked her to get an std test which came out to be positive for hsv-2. Now that I know I was exposed I went to my physician and he said that chances of contracting hsv-2 like this is low. Now she swears up and down that she didn't have an outbreak in her genital region at the time and  never had an outbreak on her lips or in her mouth. But I'm really, really nervous. Every second of everyday I think about this disease and my heart goes out to all of the people whose stories I read here for the past week.

3 days ago i saw an ad below this webpage for 10 min hsv-2 testing from a doc in la that claims to have 99.9% accuracy on  a test he calls a gg2 immunoassay test which according to him can be taken 4 days after exposure. It's administered through a finger prick. The website for this test is Californiaherpes.com.
I thankfully tested negative. Has anyone heard of this test??? It seems to be his own creation. My primary care doc told me to take an igm test this week or around the 2 week mark of my last infection but everything that I read here says that's a waste of time.

Now I had an igg test done in November/December of 2013 and was negative. But now I'm worried about these new encounters. So I want to wait to take an igg test closer to the 4 week mark then again at 16 weeks.

Should I be worried???  I have been examining myself every time I want to use the restroom. I freak out about every little change on my body. Right now I have no symptoms but I do have a sore throat (almost at the 2 week mark). I'm worried about this but also it could be nothing.  What should I do in the meantime??

Valentine's day is coming up and ironically another  girl that I have been perusing for a very long time finally wants to spend It with me. I'm afraid to get close to her. What should I do??

Thank you all for reading this. Bless all of u.

Hockeymonkey, Yeah three weeks is way to soon to relay on.  You should not put this girl at risk even if you really are negative.  It would just not be right.  I'm sure you wouldn't want to be in her shoes with someone that didn't know there status.  Still see the girl and chill and hangout.  If you do want to get interment then do so, just don't do the sex.  A good alternative would be just masturbating each other.  And if she wants to have sex just say you don't do that right away.

A swab is only if there is a sore present.  They will swab it and send it to the lab to see if it is the virus.  If there is nothing to swab then they can't swab.  I never seen a finger prick for igG, but if it is FDA approved and the std clinic is using it, then it must be accurate.

Hi life360. It was a blood test from what I understand. She said she had blood drawn so that's what I'm assuming. Would it matter if it was a swab??
Also with the finger prick are the results as good as an igg???

My problem is that I want to get intimate with this girl that I'm meeting on valentines but don't want to put her at risk at all!! U mentioned to take a test beforw seeing  her but that won't help much as it would only be three weeks.

Raddly had mentioned that my perceived symptoms might be from stress or constant anxiety towards my situation causing the irritation inside the tip of my penis but I'm not sure if i should have it looked at. I can't really see anything when i examine it but I'm worried none of the less, but everyday that passes I feel better.

I'd relax with this one man. Trust me, I'm going through the same exact situation except with HSV1 and I had very clear and obvious symptoms post exposure minus the typical blisters. My blood has been negative through 10+ weeks.

Your situation in my opinion seems extremely unlikely that you would contract herpes without genital to genital intercourse. Especially, considering she is hsv2 positive which is typically and almost always present in that area. Minus the fact you have no obvious symptoms or lesions, id sleep comfortably knowing you're in the clear.

I also recommend testing at 6 weeks for an "early test" like I did and then at 12-16 weeks for peace of mind. I'm retesting personally on Monday (12 weeks) and will look to put this behind me.

Good luck man. We are in the same boat but I honestly think you're good man. I'd relax with this if I were you. I know that's easier said then done.

How was she tested for hsv2 blood or swab? Most cases of hsv2 are genital and if you did not have genital contact with her you were not exposes. Ask her about the test and if it was a blood test (blood tests dont specify the area). The problem is that you did not wait long enough with the recent tests to be absolutly sure your negative as you need to test at 3 months post exposure to confirm.
If its an hsv2 issue you can have the biokit test which is also a finger prick and is hsv2 specific. Do test before your intimate with another.

Hey Hockey, yeah quit playin around down there! lol.  No no, if it was an open sore then it would be insanely painful as toxic urine would be passing over an open sore.  So if no intense burning during urination, all is good.  Also, first herpes out break would be at site of infection.  This would be the shaft or the pubic mount, not the head of the penis.  Sound good?

Hi Raddly. Thanks for the response. You're prolly right. I'm an anxious person overall and this whole ordeal has been one of the most difficult that I had to deal with. This site has truly been a g-d sent and I'm so happy to be a part of it.

I have no sores or visible symptoms. The only thing I did notice is that inside the tip of my penis seems a little red or "scraped". I have to open it up to see it. I just can't tell for sure tho. Maybe it's because I keep touching it or maybe because it's dry.

I'm wondering if I should have this checked or not. I know it's hard for u or anyone else to give suggestions like that but I guess my question is would irritation completely inside be a symptom???

Again sorry for all the questions. It's crazy even reading the responses makes me feel better.

Hey hockeymonkey.  The burning and dryness can be focused gential anxiety.  I've seen many people experiencing this when they think there are issues going on with them.  The tip can get sore from constant stress and pushing down below.  The sharp pains, try and ignore.  Until there are any blisters, ulcers, or sores then get it check out.  Testing at 2 weeks would not be recommended.  It would be a waste of your hard earned monies.  Instead if you wish to test early test at the 6 week mark.  This could give you an indication of where you are at.  Then test at 12 weeks.  you'll be very certain but 16 weeks is conclusive.  Use the IgG test, using an igM is not recommended.  Hope this helps.

Heyyy. I dunno if my last message went through. I appreciate all the comments that u leave. I understand the chances are small. But just today at the 2 week mark I've been having  burning and dryness particularly at the tip of my penis. So I'm kinda worried. What do u think about these symptoms?

Also regarding the testing that I asked, I'm planning on getting an igg test but regarding igm test which in know is not recommended would such a test a produce a false negative if I were to take it Monday in addition to the igg? At the two week mark??

Timinboston - thanks for the comment ;)

I'm quite sure I've already responded to you regarding this "creation" of this doctor in California. A gG immunoassay sounds like a copycat of the Western Blot. I would not trust this random website/doctor for any reason whatsoever.

If she tested positive 3 days post encounter, she did not contract it from you. She'd had it for 3-4 months or more beforehand.

If she has only genital HSV-2, she did not pass it to you via oral sex. If she has oral HSV-2, there's a chance she passed it to you via oral sex, but that chance is quite small, and I personally would not worry about it until there's something to worry about.

You aren't gonna catch HSV2 from oral. Period.

Some Valentines day advise:  forget the new girl and make a date with the first one. Nothing trumps getting licked in the "anal and scrotum region".  The rest is just white-noise. Take that to the bank.

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure how she tested positive. Three days after the encounter she said she tested positive for hsv-2. I'm not sure which test they performed. I feel like she knew because she said she had a bad feeling. In any event I hope that she's ok.

Your comments have helped a lot. I keep reading that there is a small chance so I'm just going to have to wait. The waiting is the worst. Hopefully I'm negative.

I will post my results.

Can you confirm exactly what test this partner had to confirm HSV2 and the results. Are you suggesting that she is aware of breakouts in her genital area previously?

Either way, it is highly unlikely you were exposed, HSV2 is nearly in every instance confined to the genital area. Oral sex hence posed no risk at all to you under this scenario. Even if in a highly unlikely event she has oral HSV2, in many instances transmission in the absence of sores is exceptionally low or non existent.

I am not aware of studies into antibodies produced so soon after infection. Generally early response antibodies and related proteins are not terribly specific to the virus that's recently arrived. I'd personally stick with the IgG antibodies that have the highest known reliability of any herpes blood test.

Sore throat, most likely not anything to do with a herpes infection, particularly a genital one.

I would have no issues in meeting Valentine girl, but wouldn't you want mutual testing before commencing anything in any event?
