Western Blot

I live on the east coast and I am looking to acquire a Western Blot tests for hsv 1 and 2.  I have had several symptoms including itching, burning, and tingling.  Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed several times with UTIs and yeast infections, but later found out all cultures were negative.  I have been tested twice for hsv with a herpes select igg, but I am not happy with results seeing as I continue to have issues with no confirmed diagnosis for them.  I now feel as though the only way to rule out herpes effectively is with a western blot.

Unfortunately, my doctor will not order me a western blot because he feels as though it is unnecessary with two negative igg tests.  I have read on here that I can call one of the clinics and have a western blot test ordered for me.  Is this true?  If so, how much does the test typically cost without insurance and how do I go about this process.

Thank you for your help.

Itching, burning and tinging on their own will not be herpes.

Your doctor is pretty right, there is no need to test with Westernblot. If you had a low positive it would be useful.

A Westernblot may find a HSV1 infection but then most likely this would have been from your childhood. The chances of finding a HSV2 infection that an IgG test would have missed is exceptionally small.

You can contact Westover Height Clinics that also has Terri Warren and experienced name on herpes and testing in their staff, I believe they can order you a western blot and you send back the blood samples for them to send you the results. Go to their website and perhaps purchase three questions from Terri Warren for 20 $ for more info or their office to order the test. I think WB is more expensive than igg but worth it if aeniugh time has passed (at least 12preferably 16 weeks)
