Why are herpes symptoms so various?

As I write this I am writhing in agony from my second flare up of herpes. I have open sores all over my vagina up to the anus that BURN constantly. There is no itching. There is no painless bumps. I have no idea where I got this - whether it was a parting gift from my exhusband or if my boyfriend of 2 years just has the symptomless showing. Why is mine so horrible? Mainly I just want to vent. I have called my doctor over and over today and, though they told me to leave messages and she would call me back, they closed without ever retuning my call. I feel, from what I've read that the medical establishment takes this condition so lightly because it is nonlife threatening. Please understand that I KNOW pain - mother of four big boys - and am not exaggerating. I've been weeping all day. It's impossible to hide my pain from my children anymore. Desitin is not helping much. Any better ideas?

i use zinc supplements when i feel an outbreak coming on and also suck on zinc lozenges when i have a sore which i feel helps the body's immune system. stay away from chocolate and caffeine. wear loose clothes. keep ur chin up, mainly. ur mental state definately plays a big role in ur immune system . good luck.

I know it's hard to be seen on a saturday but if you have to, find a walk in clinic and get checked out. You need tested for yeast and bacterial infections too. do you have a prescription for herpes antivirals to start? this just sounds like it had a trigger like a vaginitis since it sounds so extensive.

Also pick up some epsom salts and soak in the tubby with some of them in.  also you can buy dermoplast spray otc at most drug stores ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can ). It's helpful to spray on for pain relief.

I hope you get relief soon!

Thank you so much for all the advice. This bout started off with a yeast infection which I did go to the doctor for treatment. I live in a very small town. There's no way I would let anyone in this clinic know that I have this except my own doc and she's so hard to get ahold of! I don't have a tub - only a shower. I was in such dire pain all that night - didn't sleep a wink. Now I'm at the stage where I only cry when I pee or when I lower my panties and the scabs stick - is this not the worst thing ever?
What is the best meds to keep this from coming back? I was diagnosed with Herpes 1. And did my yeast infection trigger this? Sure seems to have.

I think you have more than just genital herpes going on right now which is why being seen again is important.

You can buy a sitz bath set up that fits in the toilet to soak your genital area in if you don't have a tub.
