Yet another "what could this be?" post :)

I'll describe as briefly as possible the timeline of events in the last 3 months. Now I realize the only way for sure with things like this is to get tested. I'm waiting on test results but regardless, I'm dying to know what I have so I wanted to ask here also.

Week 1: I had unprotected oral sex (receiving) with a woman who told me she was clean but I was stupid to trust her. It was a one time thing and my penis never touched her genital area. Our bodies were in very close contact however. No kissing.

Week 5: No symptoms until then. One day I took a detoxifying mineral that you drink and it rinses out toxins through your urine, it clears heavy metals etc from the system. That same day I started feeling pain in my lower abdomen, to the point where I thought I had to go to the ER that night. I thought it was appendicitis.

Over the next few days it felt like the pain was moving lower towards my genitals, and then the painful urination began. It eventually got to be painful enough that I went to the doctor.

He basically just looked at my urine sample color and said it can't be a bladder thing since it's so clear, let's test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. He gave me Cefixime 400mg and Doxycycline 100mg for 10 days.

The test results came back negative, but honestly I was so stressed out about the whole thing that I peed way too soon after the last urination so I'm not sure how accurate the test was.

Week 7: After the antibiotics I started feeling better but 3 days or so later the pain when urinating came back, but this time my glans/scrotum became red, I had a small patch of red bumps at the tip of my penis that would flare up after ejaculation, I had intense itching around the glans and I got painful/itchy red lines between my groin folds. I got one painful pimple about 3-4 inch away from the base of the penis, in the middle of my pubic hair. It went away after a few days leaving no marks. My meatus was swollen and the whole area overall felt really ******. Lots of what might have been phantom pains and tingling from being so paranoid about the situation and constantly looking at it.

Week 9: Eventually after tons of Googling and not a lot of sleep I self-diagnosed with a Candida infection and did the whole garlic/yogourt/tea tree oil regimen. It didn't really work and I also managed to burn my penis by applying too much tee tree oil and leaving it in my boxers to burn. My scrotum got super painful/red and the tip of my penis wrinkly.

Week 10: Next, I got Diflucan One at the pharmacy and that helped a lot.  I also got Canesten and applied it to the groin folds and it went away quickly. Overall most of the symptoms were gone so I was pleased.

Week 11: After testing out my penis with masturbation to see if the symptoms remained, they did. After ejaculating it just brought back the urethra pain and slight burning feeling when I pee at the tip of the penis. The red bumps that use to flare up were almost gone but you could still see a little shine there and a slight pinkish discoloration present. The spots there were not seen anywhere else, just this one spot. Around this time I got the most painful migraine I've ever had, not sure if it's related. But for 3 days I was totally incapacitated and it lasted for 7 days. Not a normal headache.

Week 12: The slight burning feeling remained but this time pelvic pain started around the genital/lower abdomen area, along with a slight testicle pain on the right side. I went to the hospital and the doctor gave me a prostate exam (it's as awkward as they tell you) and a blood/urine test (which came clean but they didn't do STD testing). His conclusion was that it was either an STD or Prostaitis. So he gave me a shot for Gonnoreah and 1g of Zithromax and is having me tested for STDs. He said perhaps the test was a false negative and that the antibiotics didn't kill all of the bacteria.

3 days after the new antibiotics I think the appearance of my penis has improved (less redness) but the slight burning remains and after masturbating the red dots on the tip of my glans came back slightly and disappeared the day after.

That's my story.. sorry if it's so long. My self-diagnosis on this has ranged from:

- The detox powder carried toxins into my urethra and it infected the area

- HSV: This one has been the shittiest to think about. I've found plenty of reasons For and Against having it, mostly against because I had no symptoms for 5 weeks, no chills/fevers and aside from that one pimple, no sores, and no painful lesions (apparently HSV rarely gives you groin fold lesions). I went to an STI clinic and the doctor said I don't need to get tested for it and she was pretty direct in saying she really doesn't think it's HSV after looking at my penis.

- Mycoplasma genitalium: This would clear up with the Zithromax. I'm not sure if 3 days is enough but with the red bumps still appearing and the slight burning, I don't think it's that.

- I ruled out Syphillis because I haven't had a chancre or feet/hand rashes.

- I ruled out Chlamydia and Gonnoreah because the combination of a false negative + the antitbiotics failing seems unlikely (but possible). I'll see the test results later.

- Prostaitis: this one seems very likely to me. What I got basically is painful urination and then a bunch of cascading effects from the antibiotics. That's my hopeful non-STD conclusion to all of this.. perhaps I am trying to soothe my fear of HSV. The doctor did feel my prostate and it was a bit painful, but he obviously thinks an STD is more likely and was trying to avoid having me take 4 weeks of antibiotics.

So that's my long story.. If anyone has any comments on what it could be (especially regarding HSV) that'd be great. If not, it was helpful to detail my journey in writing :)

Thanks for reading

Hi, that was quite a long post for such a simple low risk act. I can see all the concerns if you had unprotected vaginal or anal sex with a person of unknown status.
If she had std,s like gono or chlamydia, she would have to give you a "deep throat" oral as the bacteria would be in the back of her throat. And if there was no lip sores, contracting herpes would be very low risk as shedding does not occur that often. Also with no lip or mouth sores and you not having any penis sore you can pretty much rule out sypilis.
What i see here with most urethra irritation from oral would be NGU or a UTI which is from mouth bacteria.

I've worried about HSV after a similar encounter. But the fact is that you had no symptoms apparently of any kind until 4 weeks after your encounter. That is a good sign. From reading your post, you seem to be hyper aware of symptoms in your genital area (and I can relate to that!). It doesn't look like you have much to be worried about however, and the antibiotics you've taken would solve most potential problems. I'm not a physician, these are just thoughts based on my experience and study.

New update.. the pee when urinating and pain after ejaculation seems to be virtually gone, about a week after the antibiotics.

Little update, it's been 3-4 full days since I took the IM and the 1g of Zithromax. It's better overall, less burning when I pee and less pelvic pain. The pain after ejaculation remains though. It really feels like the sperm is bringing something up with it that burns my urethra.

It feels more and more like this could be prostaitis.. given the antibiotics I've taken any of the possible ones would have been cured already. And HSV does not give symptoms like this for weeks on end, as far as I've read.

I'll wait another few days before going to see the doctor again.

Hey Life360,

thanks for your reply. I agree it's a long post and a good indication of just how much stress and thoughts I have given to all of these symptoms. :)

The oral sex was definitely on the harder side. I don't think she went as far as "deep throating" it to the point of gagging or anything. But after it did feel a bit sore. She did not have visible sores.

I assumed a simple NGU/UTI would go away with the first dose of antibiotics (10 days doxy).. but I guess it's possible it could come back as a side effect of the dosage. Gotta love chemicals!
