advice please

I have never had an STD my husband and I have been together for almost four years now and I have been faithful. I was just diagnosed with herpes... couple days later I had itchy throat which is now burning with swollen bumps on the back of my tongue. The bumps are red, kinda look inflamed. Does this mean it could be oral herpes? Also have been having a weird sensation in my gums... Any advice would be appreciated... Also have Bern running fever

I would take things back to square one and build your knowledge. Do not jump to conclusions such as unfaithfulness which is unlikely to be the case whether you do or do not have herpes.

With the new doctor, starting from scratch, tell her you have a suspicion of genital herpes based on symptoms and blood tests that you aren't sure about. You'd like clarity on this issue to ensure the most appropriate birthing option etc. You'd like to have IgG antibody testing type specific for HSV1 and HSV2. The Herpeselect kit is preferred. You'd like to work through in detail with the doctor a printout of the results.

Your husband should do the same thing as this may add clarity to your situation if the testing does not as pregnancy can interfere with the test results.

With the results for both of you for both HSV1 and HSV2, you should then be able to make much more informed decisions.

Sorry, wouldn't let me finish typing. I also asked her if it come.back that I was recently exposed did that mean my husband was messing around on me? She said yes and she was sorry. I'm just confused and not trying to sound like I'm in denyal but things just don't add up. Thank you for your time

Also, I go to a new Dr tomorrow for a second opinion. I had the same exact symptoms I had last year when I was diagnosed BC I thought I had something and come to find out I did the swab and blood work they told me folliculitis. I got it about a day or two after shaving. Well a day or two after shaving this time I got the same exact spots in the same exact spots and I'm sure scalding hot water down there to relieve itching isn't going to make my stuff look pretty anyway. I know TMI and I'm sorry but I'm still irritated that I had the same exact symptoms and was tested for herpes the first time I had this and I did not have it and for this lady to say I had herpes before testing me really bothers me. I've had a whole  five stressful five months with this pregnancy BC every visit is bad news. I also asked her if I had it  come

If the culture was negative and blood was positive what does that mean? I also have RH negative and had my shot already so what that be a reason for the anti bodies?

I would also like to comment on if its an old or new infection.
The only way the doctor can find this out is by 2 tests. One of a sore culture and one blood test.
If the culture is positive and the blood is negative then it would be deemed new.
If the culture is positive and the blood is positive it would be deemed old.

If your pregnant then having hsv oral will not effect the baby during the birthing process, only having hsv genital would be a concern. This is why you need to get more involved with this issue.

Its your body so you need to find out what test the doc did and if there was a number value what was it. Its your right to know this information. The only real test to know if you got this recently is with a swab of a first time outbreak taken within 48 hours after appearing. You also need to find out if this is hsv1 or 2 that was positive. No blood test will tell you where you have herpes only a swab culture of a sore will tell you this.

That's one problem I have with my Dr. she isn't fully informing me with everything. I had the same symptoms after I shaved last year and was diagnosed with folliculitis... I go to the Dr the other day and she told me it's herpes and was waiting on one more blood culture to find out if I had gotten in recently. Also I'm 26 & pregnant with fifth child. I don't know why it tagged 35 & over lol. I'm just worried BC I can't eat with these bumps and pain so it's affecting me. I just don't understand how I've broke out twice like this now, diagnosed with folliculitis and my new Dr diagnosed herpes before testing...

Hi, tell us about the test you had and the number value if there was one and also if its hsv1.
If it is hsv1 you most likely contracted it in childhood and is estimated that 70% of the adult population would test positive for hsv1.
You oral symptoms dont seem herpes related. most of sore are on the lips not the inside of the mouth.
