Herpes or Not?

Hello-

Over the past 5 years I have been having on and off 'paper cut' slices around my vagina. They are slightly uncomfortable and burn when I urinate. When they first started happening I went to my ob-gyn because I was scared I had herpes. They swabbed the area and did a blood test and they both came back negative. My question is....I read that genital herpes testing is not always correct and I was worried that I might have had a false negative test! I have never had any lesions, blisters or sores only these things that look like paper cuts (and I only get 1 or rarely 2 at a time) Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you!

I'm a fan of fem dophilus by jarrow. it's a probiotic that has been proven in good research to help replace the 'good' bacteria in the urogenital tracts of females so that they can better fight off the 'bad' bacteria - i.e. yeast and bv.  Might be worth looking into too. sometimes breaking the vaginitis cycle is very hard to do :(

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it. My ultrasound showed that my ovaries were very close together, but nothing else. Thankfully after MANY doses of antibiotics I overcame bacterial vaginosis/mycoplasma and ureaplasma infections. I am still having the discharge so my OB suggested I get a laproscopy (not sure if I spelled that right) to check for endometriosis. I have a consultation with the Dr. in a week and a half. I hope I can finally get some answers. I will talk to my OB about topical estrogen! Thank you again!

if you need peace of mind, repeat your herpes igg blood test but your various symptoms do not sound like they are herpes related even if you do test + for herpes. You've had multiple, multiple vaginal infections now. You've had multiple antibiotics for them. You've had a lot going on and odds are your genital skin is damaged and probably needs extra tlc more than anything.  Talk to your obgyn about topical estrogen to help rebuild the strength of your genital skin to help undo all the damage that has been done.

did your ultra sound ever show anything?

are you still getting vaginitis all the time?
