folliculitis

from time to time i will get a small bump and its very tiny and i do shave down in the genitals and when i squeezed it a little pus came out and then some blood. I went to the dermatologist and she told me that it was folliculitis. Can a dermatologist distinguish what is and what isn't herpes being they are skin doctors.

It's tough to say.  I have had the same thing.  HSV can look so many different ways in the same person.  A blood test or culture on the puss would help.   Are there many?  Does it sting or burn before you can see anything?
