herpes results - 9 weeks

I got my 9 week results for herpes type specific test and they both came back negative (Thankfully).  I did experience some mild symptoms after receiving oral sex from a female (unprotected and that is the only thing we did other than kiss) from my encounter...the hsv 1 results was .12 and the hsv 2 result was .16. I think the only real risk from my encounter is hsv 1 oral.  My question is when should i get retested so i can have peace of mind and not worry about it and can be fully sure i don't have it (maybe 4 months..or 6 months?)  Also, do the real low results indicate anything more than if i got a .5 or .6?  Thanks.

I wouldn't bother retesting at all from this encounter.

hsv1 would've been your risk from receiving unprotected oral sex. typically it presents with very obvious and "classic" symptoms. just tingling and no obvious lesions isn't a newly acquired genital herpes infection.

in the future, protect yourself by only giving and receiving protected oral sex. saves you worry, protects you and keeps you from having to spend money on std testing :)

Hello

You said it was " 9 week results"  if by that you mean that you tested 9 weeks post exposure.   This this is a very good thing.

By convention a herpes test is conclusive at the 3 month mark.   If you can live and believe you are negative then you don't need another test.    We don't think you have herpes or aquired it from oral sex.

The results say your negative.  So be happy for that.
