one night stand. fear

Hello Dr!
About a week ago I posted a question on the open forum but things have changed a bit since then so perhaps im looking for reassurance. Here's my story, I'm 24 and have been in a faithful relationship for 2 years. Prior to that I had a little girl and during my pregnancy I was tested for EVERYTHING and was clean. My boyfriend is also clean.15 days ago I was on vacation and very stupidly had unprotected vaginal only intercourse with basically a stranger. He claims to be clean but I doubt he was ever tested for herpes. I've read that if he were to be hsv positive that the liklihood of me transmitting it from him in a one time encounter is low, but I'm becomming concerned. For the last couple days I've had a very red sore throat and some body aches (especially under my left arm and my left breast). Also today I noticed two Teeny little white bumps on my right lowerlabia. They don't hurt or itch unless I really mess with them. I shaved 2 days ago so I don't know if they came from that or if I'm having a herpes outbreak?!. Any information or thoughts you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I can't say over the internet, but I can strongly suggest that you see a clinician for such a clear symptom.

The white bumps went away right away.. probably just shaving bumps. I was tested for chlamydia and gonnorhea.. both negative thank god! Now today (37 days post encounter) I have what feels like a bump of some sort under my skin in my labia right by my clitoris on the right side. I can't even see it, its not like a sore or blister but it does hurt and I feel pressure when I'm standing. Does this sound like herpes? Or anything for that matter?? Thank u for your help!

I've been out of computer touch for about 10 days, sorry about that.

OK, so this could be herpes, but it seems unlikely, from a statistical point of view.  Perhaps by now you've had someone take a look at those white spots?  If not, then I would if I were you, just to be certain.  It is also possible that the white spots have been there before, but until now, you've had no reason to look for them?  Is that possible?
Also, during pregnancy, most OB providers do not test for herpes, but you could certainly give them a call and ask about that to be certain.  Ninety percent of people who have genital herpes don't know it, so I would start with that question for your OB provider, and move forward to now.

If you had vaginal intercourse only, then I wouldn't worry at all about the sore throat.  You would only get herpes in your throat by giving this partner oral sex.
However, I am concerned about the episode of unprotected intercourse from the perspective of all other STDs. As with herpes, getting another STD through one intercourse is low, but certainly not zero.  If I were in your situation, I would go in for testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia about 10 days after the encounter, then be tested for syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B and C and herpes in about 3-4 months (although the HIV test will likely be accurate before then).  This is just to be sure, not because you are at high risk for anything in particular.  And some people probably wouldn't recommend STD testing, but I'm a bit more conservative that way, I guess.
