I can't believe people use alcohol around their mucous membranes. Bad idea. You're fine. You had a higher chance of contracting the common cold or something else than herpes from this person.
Go have a candy cane, or, in your case, a piece of fruitcake might do the trick.
Thanks Grace,
I looked up angular chelitis and decided that that was more in line with what I had. I had a 1% clot......?, antifungual treatment that I started using. It has started to clear up. Thank you.
I would stop putting anything on this at this point and go see your doctor. This could even be angular chelitis which can be caused by something as simple as the toothpaste you are using or also it's commonly caused by fungal infections.

I am thankful for your speedy reply. I saw no outward signs that she had any ob. I will rest easier. Thanks again for the info.
I would stop using the alcohol around your mouth, it will dry your skin.
First, did she have an active infection? If yes, there is high chance of contracting herpes. But, the first outbreak usually won't appear for a couple of weeks. Also, you will have intense itching and burning around an area that a lesion will break out at. If you have ever had a cold sore or canker sore, it is 10x that much more painful.
But, it doesn't sound like your description is herpes. I would try and quit worrying about it. I know easier said than done
