painful white bumps please help

I have the really painful whit bumb on the tip and sides of my tongue. I assumed it was from acid or drinking too much soda or something but when I looked it up everywhere i looked it said it could have something to do with STD's or herpes or HPV and its really freaking me out! I got them about three days ago. I think I recall getting something like this before but I'm not quite sure. I'm not having any other gum pain or mouth pain its just the bumps. The tongue it self does not hurt. Just where the bumps are. Normally if i just dont move my tongue its fine as long as it just rests in my mouth and doesn't touch my mouth. The bumbs are only on the tip and on the side not the entire tongue. Please tell me what this could be and if I should have it checked out! I'm really freaking out!!

you need to go and be seen to find out what is going on. it could be oral herpes but odds are it's something else going on.  canker sores often cause symptoms like that as does geographic tongue.  you can google them both for more info but really if you are concerned, see your provider.
