upper lip problem

3 months ago i changed birth control pills that had a different strain of hormones in it which caused me to get cold sores every month. This past month I have switched back to my original birth control. After switching to the original pills I am still having this problem. My upper lip will twitch and burn a little so I put on abreeva, nothing really seems to form. i might get a very tiny bump which will then go away after 2-4 days. my problem is almost every other or every two days my lips will start to twitch and burn again. I am sick of putting on abreeva so much and not being able to go anywhere without a bathroom to put it on. Is this really cold sores or what am i suffering from?

I have also changed my diet. For about a year I was not eating very much and pretty much going on a very low calorie intake. Over the last month I have recently quit this and have been eating normaly. Could this also be a factor?

daily suppressive therapy is when you take a herpes antiviral every single day and not just when you have symptoms of a cold sore. it helps to prevent the virus from replicating enough to cause obvious cold sores.

Thank you,  i did not know that about abreeva. Seeing a dermatoligist will probaly be my next step.

What do you mean by daily suppressive therapy?

abreva doesn't really do much for cold sores. it barely got fda approval to say that it speeds healing of cold sores.

tiny bumps probably are not your oral herpes going on. at this point perhaps being seen by your provider or a dermatologist when you have symptoms is a good idea to figure out what is going on.  you can also consider going on daily suppressive therapy for a few months too and see if that helps.
