1. I don't believe the Famvir would interfere with the test results if you took just 11. Antivirals will NOT block antibody development forever, no, certainly not! If you told me you had taken antivirals for all 14 weeks, that would be an issue. This is not an issue.
2. Why were you given Famvir at all? You contact was mutual masturbation and that's it? If yes, then you aren't at risk for an STI. Do I have at the whole picture?

I don't do phone consults right now, but you could do it with someone else in my office if you need to. I am also out of town for a month.

Hi Terri,
I did receive my WB results and they are neg for hsv2. Would it be possible that I could pay for a short telephone consult with you because my pain and pudendal nerve issues are very difficult to deal with and I was hoping maybe you could help me work them out? Thank you again for your help!
I absolutely do NOT agree AT ALL. What you did is not considered low risk - it is considered zero risk. And I don't know what herpes expert you are talking about, but starting Famvir at day 14 after contact would have absolutely no impact on contracting herpes. If you had come in direct contact with herpes and had taken the Famvir within an hour or two for several days, then maybe, yes.
Yes, a western blot at 16 weeks would be conclusive but will likely not be different than results now. The western blot picks up more HSV 1 than the ELISA does.
Terri
Thank you Terri for your response.
Yes, you absolutely have the whole picture. MM and rubbing of my penis on her breasts and nothing else! I know that this is considered low risk activity but my symptoms starting 9 days after the encounter are undeniable.
I took 4 days of famvir at day 14 because a herpes specialist told me that there was a study that showed if you take antivirals soon enough after exposure you may block contraction...
I am so concerned because I now have prostatitis/pudendal neuralgia and dont believe anything else could cause this other than herpes? Do you agree?
Do you think 24 hours of Famvir is too short of a time to cure my urethritis at day 14 if this was herpes?
Do you think a WB at 16 weeks will be conclusive?
Shall I send you a picture of the lesion at 10 weeks?
I apologize for so many questions....
