Genital Warts? (in the rectum)

How quickly after possibly becoming infected with hpv would warts appear in the rectum? How quickly would the swelling increase/decrease? I developed a bump or two in my rectum about 2.5 days after anal sex. Swelling increased (felt like hemmorrhoids) for about 2 days, and then swelling went down to the point where I could no longer feel any discomfort in about 1.5 days. I can still feel the bumps faintly when I have a bowel movement.

I initially posted this in the herpes forum (in so many words). I'm now wondering if these traits are indicative of warts caused by hpv or if I just have hemmorrhoids from the rough act of attempted anal sex. All of the research I've done (and my initial (too early to really tell) visit to an STD clinic) has suggested that these bumps are NOT herpes (herpes would, apparently, be extremely excruciating and not go away so quickly).

Thanks so much for your reply!

I'm sincerely hoping that the discomfort was a result of hemmorrhoids or a fissure. I've had a couple of external hemmorrhoids, but this is the first time I've ever felt something like that inside my rectum. The discomfort just came and went so quickly- the external hemmorrhoids took at least a week to diminish in size and go away.

As far as STDs go, I know I'm not out of the woods, by a long shot. I'm abstaining from sex, until I can have some proper testing done.

I feel like I've had some swelling in my throat for the past two days, but I can't really see anything unusual. I suppose it's possible that it's all in my head. I'm just so wrried of an infection that I start to freak out at even the slightest body ache. . .

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
These symptoms can be due to hemorrhoids or boils in the area rather than genital warts which are painless and do not regress in size. The average incubation period, which begins immediately after the initial sexual contact with an infected person, is usually two to three months but can range from one to 20 months.  Chances of warts presenting such symptoms are less likely. Symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus which may itch.
You should consult a surgeon for diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
