How long does it take for oral HPV or vocal papillomas to show up?

About 2 months ago I performed oral sex (only, and for the first time) on a man. About two weeks prior to this, I had lost my voice and exhibited a pretty bad sore throat.

Five days after I got a full std workup which all came back negative and I re-tested (negative) for HIV 3 weeks later. Since the incident, I've had nasal congestion and a sore throat which my doctor attributed to allergies/post-nasal drop. I've tested negative for strep twice since late March.

I currently have small, pinkish bumps on the back of my throat/pharynx and my tonsils have been enlarged and strange looking. Last night, the pain in one of my tonsils was so bad I couldn't sleep and it was hard to swallow. I am very worried that I have oral/tonsillar HPV or that I have the beginnings of vocal fold papillomas. I've pretty much been worrying about this since 5 minutes after performing the oral sex in the first place.

Hi, it honestly sounds more like a bacterial throat infection.  You can get bumps in the throat from those, too, and they can take a while to clear up.

Don't let the anxiety get the best of you.  See an ENT physician and have them make the call.
