I really need help understanding HPV..

I was told about 2 year ago after an abnormal pap that I had HPV. I do not have the HPV with warts. I had to have a procedure done to scrap the cells from my cervix..I cant remember the name of it sorry..Then I was told that I would need to have a LEEP procedure done due to pre cancerous cell..My doc told me that once I had this done that I would not be able to carry a pregnancy becuase my cervix wouldnt be strong enough. So I didnt have the LEEP done and I had a child. I have really been worrying about what could happen from me not having this procedure done. I know I need to see my doc and discuss it with him. But I am very frightened on what he might tell me and I really need to have an idea of what HPV is and what it could be doing to me before I go back to him.

if you are having normal paps now, no real reason to get the LEEP done at this point.   also almost all women who have a LEEP done are able to have future pregnancies after it.   Not unusual for pregnancy to cause hpv to reactivate so be sure to follow up about 6 months after birth for a pap along with a hpv dna test too.

I certainly understand wanting to have a family but what good does it do to have more children if you aren't following up on your health properly to make sure that you live long enough to take care of them?   Mom dealing with cervical cancer because she didn't follow up regularly with her gyn would really be awful don't you think?

My abnormal pap test were all about 4 years after my son was born but while i was pregnant with my daughter a little over a year ago my pap was normal during pregnancy. I havent went back after my daughter was born. I am just so scared that they are going to tell me that once i have the LEEP done I wont be able to carry a child to full term. I want more children and I know that I really need to get it check but I really dont want to hear that news.

it was probably a colposcopy you had done prior to your LEEP.

were your pap tests during pregnancy and post pregnancy all normal?
