I've just been infected with hpv-6,11 and 61

Dear doctors,

I found out that i had genital warts about 3 weeks ago. I had a laser treatment but as warts are still developing, i am going to have another in 2 weeks. I have a new boyfriend and we are going to travel for a month, so I asked my doctor if I could have sex with my boyfriend and he said I could as long as my skin is healed because only 2 to 4% people who are infected with HPV develop any symtoms. But as far as I know, statistically two-thirds of people who had sexual contacts with a partner who has genital warts would develop them as well within 3 months. Those two statistics seem contradicting.  Can I have sex with my boyfriend while I haven't finished my treatment?

And I read somewhere that there's no pingpong effect between two partners who share the same strains of hpv. But I also read that even in that case, it is better not to have contacts to decrease viral load and prevent the warts from spreading thus get treated faster. Is this true?

Even several years after I completely treat my genital warts, is there a chance that I would develop genital warts again when I get pregnant?

Thank you in advance.

I cleared the virus before I got pregnant and then got genital warts. Don't mean to put fear in you, but there is that chance where your immune system is low and depending on the type of HPV, your cells can change forming into warts. My sister in law, however, cleared the virus before she became pregnant and never showed any symptoms of warts.

As far as I know, you can have protected sex if there are no warts presented as the viral load would be low for transmission. If you have warts, you probably would want to stay away from having sex cause you may transmitt it to him even if you use a condom.

As for getting warts once you are pregnant, if you clear the virus now, and you get pregnant later on, it should not be a problem.

Best of luck.
