Risk of developing HPV genital warts

I just began having intercourse with a new partner.  He told me before intercourse that he has had genital warts, but currently is the virus is latent.  We've only had intercourse once using a male condom, but I've become very concerned about my recent exposure.  I'm wondering what the likelihood is for me developing warts, as well as how soon HPV would show up on a Pap.  Please help.

I'm starting to feel a little more at ease about it.  He said that his last outbreak was 8 years ago, and that it was only on the shaft.  He also said that as far as he knows, he's never transmitted it to anyone.

I guess I will just be extra-cautious within the next few months, but I'm hoping I will be ok.

If it's genital warts then it's likely that your pap will still show up normal because the majority of them do not affect the cervix. How long has it been since his last outbreak of warts?

If he has no visible warts and it's been at 6 months since they appeared, it's good to measure to say that it won't be contagious. The best thing for you can to do is wait and see really. No one can judge what your likelihood will be, as everybody's different.
