Sharing information

Okay, so I had a doc appt today, for those of you that don't know my story, here it goes (briefly):2010-abnormal paps tested with colposcopies and leep procedure (strictly cervical). 2011-January-normal pap and pregnant! Yahoo!! 2011-Fevruary-Genital warts appear on labia majora (no where near vaginal opening) due to hormones and cell changes of a dormant strain of HPV. 2 weeks ago-first treatment of trichloric acid. There is little or no change in my warts because sometimes it takes a few treatments. The info I would like to share with all of you :He wouldn't treat me today because the warts were too enflamed. I have had discomfort (itching, burning) because of where these lesions are located. So, I said to him "are these going to be gone by the time baby gets here (August) and if not, will they pose a threat to my baby during delivery?" He replies "I have been doing this for 30 years and have never seen a case of HPV that affects a child through vaginal delivery." He also said "It is possible but very very rare." This is great news and I hope I could answer some questions for some members. I have had my frustrations with this, as I'm sure many of you do. Bottom line: they DO go away, and us pregnant women can rest easy :o)

Yes, I hope so :) I set an appt for another acid treatment today. I am just not happy with the slowness of Aldara and the fact I have new warts in an area that is hard for me to see or treat. The lame part is I made the appt. the day before my son will be getting an award at a local university, he is young they are just holding the ceremony there. LOL I felt the need to say I am not old enough to have a college student, yet! :) Anyway, I will be dressing up and sure the things wont be some comfortable down there that day. :(

I have a question if you ever get the chance to ask him. I think in kids, like adults oral issues are seen over time, not right at birth. Ask him if he has experience seeing babies over a long period of time. I don't want to scare you with that question. I am still learning about this part of HPV and you are one of the few pregnant women I can learn from. I think it's called RRP. I am just wondering if it's an ENT or peds doc who would really see these cases and now would an OB/GYN know the long term effects.

First off, my doc said Aldara is way slow with treating warts :( bummer but he did say acid is the best thing so far. I will be sure to check with him on that question though. :) For your son's ceremony, wear a dress, put some vasaline on your treated warts and don't wear any underwear ;) Mags, are your warts inside your vagina? Or outside?

LOL I am wearing a skirt and I can only imagine sitting next to my mom with no panties, she gets upset if I don't wear a slip! haha Thank goodness no one wears pantyhose anymore. I do love tights in the winter though.

Usually within just a few days after acid treatments I was fine.

My warts are in my vaginal opening, where I can see them, not inside where I cant see. They are low on the inner labia majora and the new ones are even lower and very close to the opening. They really don't bother much at all, no itching, no pain unless I just had an acid treatment. It's been almost 4 months from the time I found them. I think the start of this was 7 months ago. I guess at best I can hope that within the next 20 months I find them gone for good! :)

I was just gonna say that he also told me that the ones inside the vagina don't hurt as much from the acid treatmenat- now I don't know if this is true, because mine are on the outside too...but I'm sure you are pretty well educated with all of this! Good luck, hun!! :)

LAME! I have psoriasis and the cream without ins is $800.00 (you would think there was gold in it)...my derm gives me a discount card for $10 and after ins I pay $50.

I think I might have found a new little wart on my perineum today. :( I can feel it but if I take a pic I can't see it so I am hoping that isn't what it is because I don't want them inching their way down south!

You gonna post those pics here to Mags!  LOL, can't wait.   Hey, my roommate has psoriasis and he started going to light treatment this year and it's totally gone.  He's got it bad to, real bad and now it's completely gone.  You ever try that?

So, the Pramosone the doc prescribed is very worth every penny I spent. My warts are shrinking, just after 3 days of use! And, no itching!! I'm thinking I'm ready for my next acid treatment. :o) There is hope for us yet!

LOL...well if you want pics ;)

My dad died from skin cancer so I can't do the light treatments :( I do get lots of sunshine, I just hiked 3 hours up to the summit of a mountain and sat on the peek in the sunshine yesterday. Happy me!

I am going to ask my doc about Pramasone tomorrow.

Just remember, pramosone doesn't rid yourself of the wart, just makes it more tolerable :)

Mags, I'm very anxious to see what your doc said about Pramosone. I got really itchy last night :( Have been using the cream for almost a week, but my hubby and I also had "relations" last night. The thing is, my warts are not near my vaginal opening. Only at the top. He was no where near the warts...hmmm...but being pregnant, I always have discharge...wondering if that's what caused the sudden itchiness. Either way, I'm gonna keep using the Pramosone. :o)
