my responsibility

i resently found out i have HPV.. i had a biopsy and was told it will clear itself up on its own...
the doctor said it was not a bad case..
well in my community it is. i am a lesbian and stds are not seen the same as they are in the straight community.
lesbians rarely have stds.
when this clears up and i get a few 'clean' paps... what are my oligations to tell my future sex partners?...
what are the percentages of it reoccuring?...
what are my chances of passing it along?..

I also wanted to tell you to not fall into the stigma trap of HPV. Do you know that 80% of all people have this virus? If the virus is dormant in her system at the time of testing a women will test negative it doesn't mean she doesn't have HPV. Most people are unaware they have it as usally the infection is cleared (becomes dormant) without any symptoms like warts (from low risk strains) or cervical dysplasias (high risk strains). So I just wanted to say to you, that while STD's might not be common in the lesbian community I am sure HPV still is as it is extremely easily contracted and also extremely common. Any woman you know that has been treated for cervical dysplasia - has HPV. HPV is the causitive factor or 99.8% of ALL cervical cancers and dysplasias. So don't beat yourself up, look around you and know that 3 out of 4 people have this virus; they likely just have no idea.

Most of the hpv infections resolve theirselves within a period of 6 months to 2 years and our body clears up the virus at its own...

If you've cleared the infection and you don't have visible warts for at leats 6 months then as per most of the experts you are under no boligation to tell your future partners... It's compelx but this is what experts on STD forums and CDC says...

If you've visible warts then you are highly contagious...
