Reducing amlopodine from 10mg to 5

I am 70 and am taking amlopodine for high BP. Over the past 4 months at 10mg, I have noticed a difference and seem to be stabilized at 135/80. The med, however, has exacerbated a problem I have with a swelling in my right ankle due to DVT years ago. (This is a listed side effect.) I want to reduce the med to 5mg. My doctor who prescribed the med is not available. Can anyone provide knowledge on whether it is OK to step down the med dosage now that I am stabilized?

Hi there. I would be very careful about reducing meds without doctors go ahead. I understand you have side effects, but I think your BP has stabilised because your taking the medication!! So if you alter the dose yourself, things could go a bit haywire. Go back to the doctor when he is available and proceed with caution
