Bloated after 4weeks

So it's been 4 weeks since my surgery.  I am still so bloated.  Is that normal?  I supposed the shock to anyones system when it comes to removing a part of your anatomy can take time to resolve itself and Lord Knows I am not a patient person...Any thoughts?

Well I also had a total abdominal hysterectomy and have 1 ovary left. I am as well very bloated omg. And I think I am having hot flashes as well. Thats a shame how when you go to doc you for get to ask these questions. So it is normal to still have so much bloating?

Hello, I am also 4 weeks (almost) out from a total abdominal surgery with a separate hernia surgery and I am still bloated. Women that I have talked to say it can take 3 months, so I try not to worry. I agree with Cherie though, that if you are still worried about it, call your doctor.  If you are eating ok but still not having regular bowel movements, then you will also have bloating. Your poor insides have been through so much. I hope you let us know what happens.

  Hi welcome !

You dont mention what your surgery was..complete hysterectomy?

that requires some time (6 weeks is adv.) to heal..and yes bloating is normal.

I'd advise you to phone Dr w this concern it really depends on how bloated you are...try the "Dimple Test" push your finger tip into the bloated area..if it leaves a dimple or sunken impression for moe than 10-15 seconds..if it hurts phone dr...holding a lot of excessive fluid can indicate other issues that Dr will know of and test for.

I know its hard to be patient, Ive been there done that..try hard to do the activites that are fun and pass time..surf the net, read a good book, crosswords , talking on phone etc..
Ask your Dr before resuming any exercise , sex etc..

If I was you and the swelling was alot bigger than I used to be Id get checked real soon for edema.

Good Luck

Cherie
