Does this mean surgery?

Hello. I am 43 years old. I had a tubal years ago, so no more children. I had blood tests done to see if I am menopausal (results not back). I recently had a vaginal ultrasound because of heavy, irregular periods and pain during periods, in abdomen, in pelvis, and during intercourse.  I blamed this pain on fibromyalgia (diagnosed 9 yrs ago). My test results showed 'samll uterine fibroid, some ovary cysts, and thickened endometrium.  Gyn. gave me progesterone (sp?).  She said this should help with periods.  I didn't tell her about all the pain because I blamed it on the FMS, but after researching this, I realize the pain is from these problems. Does this mean surgery? Thank you for your reply.

Hi there.  You should post over on the Ovarian Cyst Forum.  The symptoms you are describing are very much in line with ovarian cysts.  Do you know what size or type of cysts you have?  Surgery for cysts depends on size, type and whether you are in pain.  In many cases if surgery is required it can be done laporascopically.  Don't ignore the cysts.  You really should have a gyn dealing with them.  Take a look at the health pages attached to the ovarian cyst forum.  There is some good information on types of cysts that you might be helpful.  See you there.
