Cervical Cancer?

Can a women still get cervical cancer after having a hysterectomy? I may have to have a hysterectomy and have been told that I would never get cervical cancer if I did have the surgery?

That was the same situation I was in. I had alot of cysts on my right ovary so I wanted my doctor to take it. When he was in there it was in great condition so they left both of mine. I was 33. If you dont have a cervix you cannot get cervical cancer. No more paps!!!!!

They will be leaving my left ovary, they say for hormone purposes, but that I may have to have it removed at a later date. I told the doctor to just remove both of them, he said they would have to see what condition my left ovary is in before he can decide. Because of my age, 41, he is reluctant to take both ovaries.

I'm not an expert, but I would say if you have your cervix removed there would be no chance of getting cervical cancer.
Will you be having a complete hysterectomy, or will they be leaving your ovaries? When they remove the uterus they will also remove the cervix.
