Hysterectomy Post Op Nine Days-Hormones

Hi All:

I just had a hysterectomy, removal of uterus and an ovarie and one large ovarian mass the size of a football. Everyday gets better and I am on the road to recovery. Keep the faith and stay positive if you are going to have a hysterectomy, I imagined the worst and glad it is over. I am still on Darvocet for pain and curious about homones. The doc said my one ovary should make sufficient hormones. I feel spacey and mentally different, I know the pain medicine may have some effect but not sure how much. Anyone care to share your experiences with just one ovary after an abdominal hysterectomy. I am 41 and not so sure this is going to cut it.

Thanks for the note of encouragement, I am doing ok, I wasn't happy about starting back to work yesterday was planning to wait until Monday, I work from my home and popped on my e-mail and got sucked in. I am dog tired today but the pain is better. This is a great place to get help and encouragement and appreciate your feedback as you have been through this!

The effects of Darvocet are much as you describe. also its very common to be tired, your healing,,think of the void where your organs once where, its a lot of work for your bodya as your anatomy changes and heals.

You sound like your doing excellent.as far as pain meds darvocet is not very strong so your pain level must not be too high, and I really appreciate your encouragement to the ladies.

As for your remaining ovary function, it depends, may double produce like people who have only one kidney or may slow down. But what ever the case theres not a need to worry bioidentical hormones are easy to use and will reduce your menopausal symptoms if you even have any I feel great. My symptoms where cured by vivelle, I had horrid hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, now its all gone. I feel like my old self.So dont borrow trouble, and be assured that no matter what happens, you will be able to be helped.
