Need robotic hysterectomy, no insurance

I have fibroids and a large uterus. Had to have an emergency d & c 3 weeks ago due to severe anemia and heavy bleeding. Dr recommended I have a robotic hysterectomy ASAP.

Does anyone know of a program I can get into with no insurance? UTMB says they do not take self pay or non insured patients. I have applied to a clinical trial but have not heard anything.

What are you supposed to do if you do not have insurance?

all hospitals have a patients rights advocate, ask to speak to one, many dont know such a thing exists, thats a starting point. I understand you need the surgery. The DaVinci is great I have all good to say about it, it is just alot lot more expensive than transvaginal or abdominal incision, you may want to factor that into your decision, I will search and pm you about Texas and see what more I can do, I have a really great friend in TX who is a RN I will ask her as well as searching. Talk to the advocate, and I will be in touch within 24 hrs.

We are in TX. The doctor says there is no sense in trying anything else, that I need a hysterectomy. I was severely anemic (hematocrit was 2), and had to have 5 units of blood. We want to get this problem solved and the only way seems to be with surgery.

I just had surgery last wednesday, A vaginal hyst. I had no insurance but found out the hospital had a financial aid department. They have helped me so much, I got a discount and also got on a program to make payments, very reasonable. Try that. I live in Michigan, but went to Indiana, they helped more. We just live 20 miles from the hospital. Check on that if you have't already!

I can try to help you w info regarding insurance, what state are you in?

a DaVinci Robotic assisted hysterectomy is by far superior as for the method, healing and invsiveness of hysterectomys its also the very very most expensive method,

the other two methods would be a laproscopic or a traditional bikini cut or transvaginal hysterectomy,

Im in MI we have one hospital that takes folks w no insurance.

also has your dr mentioned any other treatments besides hysterectomy for the fibroids?Like a leep?
