Post-op LAVH bleeding

I am almost 4 weeks post-op LAVH (vaginal assisted laproscopic hysterectomy) and have experienced heavy bleeding for almost a week.  It is as if I am having a period with clots and bright red blood. I called my Dr and had to leave a message with the nurse that I had started bleeding.  She called me back and said it was normal, but I am still concerned.  This just doesn't seem normal.  Both ovaries and tubes were taken as well.  I have put myself on bed rest for the past 4 days but that doesn't even seem to help.  I'm so afraid something has torn loose.

I agree with you - this does not sound normal. Your surgeon should see you right away. Let us know what you find out.

I started bleeding around two weeks after my LAVH.  It was much heavier than a period with large clots.  I went to the ER to be evaluated.  ER doc called my surgeon and I got an appointment in the office the next day.  The problem was minor (but scary for me) and was easily fixed in the surgeon's office.

If you are concerned, and I'm sure you are, please go to an urgent care clinic or  to an ER.  Complications, both big and little, can occur after surgery and having an simple exam can give you some piece of mind.

Hugs.

My dr office just got back with me.  I am to be seen first thing in the morning.  She thinks they may have confused me with another patient last week.  Ugh...I've been bleeding for almost a week now.....stay tuned.  Hoping this is just some simple fix or issue.  Thanks for the responses and encouragment!

Follow-up from my Dr Visit:  I have apparently been doing way too much.  I pulled loose several and have now been put back on modified bed rest.
