Approximately how much time will pass before most women will have their surgery after the 1st office visit with the surgeon?

I had a transvaginal in Oct. '07. Met again in the same month (Oct.) with my Gyn to discuss what were our plans. I told him I wanted to wait - I waited 2 months and then seen another doctor to get a second opinion. After I got the other doctors opinion I made another appointment with my Gyn doctor to go ahead and have the surgery. I'd say my surgery was scheduled in a matter of 2 - 3 weeks. The only reason why I waited 2 months is because I did a lot of research on hysterectomies. I didn't know if I wanted one or not.

I think  it would depend on your HMO if you have that.  If you live in Canada or Great Britain with Socialized medicine it will be forever from what I have read.
I have HMO and from doctor to specialist to surgeon and then surgery it was from Thanksgiving to Feb 5th total.

Hi - I met with my surgeon Dec. 14th and had my surgery Jan. 3rd. This was after 3 months of TVUS to moniter the cysts on my ovaries (sometimes they resolve) mine did not. I'm not sure if there is a standard wait time for surgery I'm sure lots of factors come into play. I wish you well!
