uterus removed

Can a partial hyterectomy (only uterus removed -- but possibly cervix removed as well ) cause after certain age and absence of sex a drastic shortening of the vagina?

The vagina tends to shrink with older age, when they remove the cervix they form whats called a cervical cuff, this is to close off top of vagina near where cervix used to be, so this shortens the vagina just a small bit.

yes lack of hormones certainly can cause lack of libido, see your Dr there are medications for this almost like Viagra for men but for women, also you may wish to consider bio idendtical hormone replacement.

Hi yes when the cervix is removed all women get a "cervical cuff" it is a upside down U shaped closing nothing at all like the way the cervix was like a cone.

for now try using K -y or similar lubrication, it will help

Hi, Cherie.  I did not mention before that I recently entered into a new relationship and lack of libido is not my problem, but there has been some bleeding during and after sex.  Since we are travelling, seeing my GYN immediately is not an option.

Hey Cherie. ..silly question.  Do all hysterecomies that remove the cervix have a "vaginal cuff?"  I am assuming they do, but not completely sure.  I have read a few posts with this term used, and was unsure what it meant.  Is it similar in feel to a cervix?  Thanks
