Does chewing up a typhoid vaccine ruin it?

My son spent an hour-and-a-half struggling to swallow his typhoid vaccine pill. He ended up chewing up the pill and swallowing it all down that way. I'm having a hard time finding if this will ruin the vaccine or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There shouldn't be a problem with the effectiveness of the pill.  It probably just tasted horrible, but as long as he swallowed it, he should be fine.
